We asked some Travel Bloggers to let us all in on why they loved, or hated, travelling on a small group tourTo give you an insight into what to expect from this type of travel we asked some Travel Bloggers that have been there, done that to let us all in on their story and why they loved, or hated, travelling on a small group tour.

Hi! I’m Vicki, a UK law graduate who has taken the long route to a regular 9 to 5 job in her field. Originally from a small town outside Manchester in the UK, I settled in Melbourne, Australia after 4 years traveling around the world. In that time I worked for Walt Disney World in Florida, USA, ran 5 different hotels in the French, Swiss & Austrian Alps and spent any spare time I had exploring the globe.

Overlanding as part of a guided group is easily one of the best ways to travel – particularly in Africa!
We recently joined a budget overland safari which took us through 5 countries. Notwithstanding all the border crossings, having a local guide was invaluable in what is affectionately known as the ‘dark continent’.
From shopping and money/currency advice, to finding suitable campsites and cooking with limited facilities – everything was (on the whole) seamless and well organized. I normally like to book everything myself individually, but taking an overland guided adventure allowed me to relax and only having to make minor decisions gave me stress-free time to really enjoy Africa.

Travelling as a group can be tough sometimes, and it’s probably not the ideal option for everyone, but if you’re heading to Africa, I can highly recommend it.
If you want to know more, have a read of my post about what to expect on an overland safari in Africa – I cover all the basics and some things you wouldn’t think of!
